Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe

Travel Guide

Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe is a popular theme park focusing on fish, marine mammals, sea creatures and some other animals. It is combination Danish theme park and aquarium, located near Noboribetsu Station. The aquarium, one of the largest in northern Japan, is in Castle Nixe, modeled after a Danish castle (and visible from the station), where you'll see sharks (from an underwater tunnel), morays, salmon, sturgeon, king crab, giant octopus, and other sea creatures. More attractions include a touch pool with small sharks, rays, and horseshoe crabs; a reptile house with snakes, turtles and lizards; game arcade; the ubiquitous souvenir shops (selling Danish and aquarium-related gifts); and a handful of kiddie rides. They also have fun activities and small events like the parade of the king penguins.

Check out the Crystal Tower in Castle Nixe, an eight meter high fish tank that features a Napoleon Fish. You can also walk through the Aqua Tunnel and feel as if you are walking along the sea bed as you gaze out at the fish of all shapes and sizes swimming about you.
