Tokyo Disney Resort

Travel Guide

Introduction

Tokyo Disney Resort is a theme park and vacation resort which is comprised of the two theme parks Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, the Ikspiari shopping mall and multiple resort hotels. The resort is immensely popular among domestic and international visitors, and its two theme parks, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, are among the world's most visited. All facilities are linked by Disney Resort Line monorail.

Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disneyland is a "Magic Kingdom" park based on the films produced by Walt Disney. It was opened in 1983 as the first Disney theme park outside of the United States. The park was constructed by Walt Disney Imagineering in the same style as Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida. It is owned by The Oriental Land Company, which licenses the theme from The Walt Disney Company.

Modeled after Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland is made up of seven themed lands and features seasonal decorations and parades.

Tokyo DisneySea

Tokyo DisneySea is a fantasy ocean-themed park in Tokyo Disney Resort that is exclusive to Japan. Inspired by the myths and legends of the sea, Tokyo DisneySea is made up of seven themed ports of call: Mediterranean Harbor, Mystery Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery and American Waterfront.

While suitable for all ages, Tokyo DisneySea was designed to specifically also appeal to a more grown up audience. The park addresses the Japanese visitors' strong interest in good food by providing a wider selection of table service restaurants than Tokyo Disneyland and by serving alcoholic beverages, which are unavailable at the neighboring park.

Ikspiari

Ikspiari is a shopping and entertainment complex at Tokyo Disney Resort, located between Maihama Station and the Disney Ambassador Hotel. It features more than a hundred shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as Cinema Ikspiari, a 16-screen movie theater.

The mall is divided into nine themed zones with a wide variety of shops selling fashion, accessories, household goods and travel services. Two of the zones specialize in food, featuring various restaurants and a food court, while numerous cafes and bars are found scattered all around the mall.
