Introduction
Tsukiji Fish Outer Market retains the atmosphere of Japan's traditional market, and is a mixture of wholesale and retail shops. The 3-foot-wide shop, commonly known as "tokomise", is crowded on a narrow street, selling seafood, vegetables, tea and other food materials, as well as kitchen tools, restaurant supplies and groceries. In the early morning, many guests swarmed in. Some businesses sell their products here after purchase in Toyosu Fish Market, so anyone can buy fresh and delicious products here at wholesale price, so there is always a constant flow of people purchasing.
You can find good seafood, sushi, ramen, tuna rice restaurant in the Tsukiji Fish Outer Market or at the street called Monzeki-Dori on the outside of Tsukiji Fish Outer Market. Many of the restanrants are crowed in the lunch time.
The new spot of Tsukiji Fish Outer Market is called "Tsukiji Uogashi" which opened in October 2018, inherits the tradition of Tsukiji Fish Market, with about 60 stores mainly for wholesale. In addition to all kinds of aquatic products, fruits and vegetables, visitors can also have a look at the anatomy of tuna here. Since it will be for professional buyers from 5 to 9 in the morning, it is recommended that you visit after this period of time.

- The outer market consists of a few blocks of small retail shops and restaurants crowded along narrow lanes. Here you can find all sorts of food related goods, knives and fresh seafood and produce for sale in smaller (than wholesale) portions.
- A visit to Tsukiji Fish Outer Market is best combined with a fresh sushi breakfast or lunch at one of the local restaurants. There are restaurants both in the inner and outer market area, which are typically open from 5:00 in the morning to around noon or early afternoon.
- Not only sushi or sashimi, Tsukiji Fish Outer Market offers gyudon (beef bowl), tempura and any other delicious food. Not so many people know, Tsukiji Fish Outer Market is regarded as the largest concentrated district of gyudon stores in Japan. Visitors can find many historical, cheap and delicious gyudon stalls. Yoshinoya, the largest beef bowl chain, was established in 1899 here.
